Brigade Days 2009 Photos are now available! Check them out here!
Come help celebrate our 41st Year of HOPE BRIGADE DAYS!
Brigade Days is truly an "end of summer" party that you can't miss. Plan to be here for three days on September 10th, 11th, 12th & 13th, 2009. Pick up a "Briggie Button" entrance pass and a Calendar of Events so that you don't miss any of the events.
For more details on some of the events, let Pioneer Pete lead you on the Briggie trail …………
The International
Carving Competition is back this year, making an early start on Thursday, September 10th. But the Briggie weekend really kicks off at
6:30 p.m.on Friday night with live entertainment by Johnny Cash, Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart, Caravan Dancers and Cadillac Bob and The Tennessee Two.
This fabulous show - which is sponsored by Envision Financial - is interrupted at about 8:30
for the official opening by dignitaries, followed by a spectacular, anniversary special Fireworks display.
And all the above is taking place on the 6th Avenue fairgrounds -
admission after 6:00 p.m. Friday, only by Briggie Button.
On Saturday after ten o'clock, the Hope Rotary Club starts
assembling the famous Parade, which moves off at 11:00 a.m. -
best viewing is along Wallace Street (see Route).
The parade ends at the recreation complex on 6th Avenue, and that's where Brigade Days kicks
into another gear - from 12 noon on the fairgrounds will be buzzing (and not just with chainsaws). Right after the parade the world famous Rube Band (google them!) directly leaves the parade and steps onto the Main Stage to start the afternoon of entertainment .
Johnny Cash is back, and the rest of the Friday night show. The Annual Briggie Talent Show contestants are mingled in between.
There will be a concession area / food court, bingo in the curling rink, newly expanded children's
programs with entertainers and Briggie's own inflatables and the brand new Laser Tag - if you like paint ball, even a little bit, you'll just love Laser Tag!
And of course, there'll be the music / talent show
on the stage behind the pool.
And this year there's Sheepdog Trials.
And when all this is over, go to the “Dine Out in Hope” event where selected local restaurants have specials. You'll be happy to catch a breather before going on
to the traditional Homecoming Dance the Hope Lions put on in the curling rink.
At 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, the Canyon Golden Agers open the
doors of the curling rink to let you come in and enjoy their famous Briggie Breaky,
which will sustain you for the final day. Consider following Breakfast with the Brigade Days – Terry Fox Walk/Run next door at the Rec Center. Or do it the other way around.
By mid morning things start humming again,
with the carvers putting on the finishing touches, the demo derby crews getting their cars hotted
up for the afternoon's main event, the best of the sheepdog handlers entering their
final competition (11:00 a.m.) and the children's games back in full swing.
Then at 3:00 p.m. the demo derby let's loose in their usual bash-'em, crash-'em, smash-'em fashion. And around 5:00 p.m. the Grand Finale - the Briggie Draw - will bring the weekend to a close, after which Briggie Pete leaves town to spend another year on the prospecting trails.
Come Join Us and Enjoy!!
